This document provides a coordinated and consistent approach to developing plans to manage habitat disturbance in boreal caribou habitat across the NWT. It sets limits on the acceptable amount of disturbance and defines levels of human disturbance designed to help stay below those limits. Appendix B looks at the technical details of range planning. Specifically:

The development of this interim range plan was guided by the NWT Framework for Boreal Caribou Range Planning. Looks at overall things such as: population distribution, trends and status; habitat distribution limits and targets; land protection and development interests; management actions; implementation instruments and forecasts of future habitat. Similar approach to the Framework for Boreal Caribou Range Planning.

Action plan with recommended approaches to achieve conservation and recovery for boreal caribou. Lists recommended actions for 6 objectives:

1. Ensure adequate habitat across NWT range.

2. Ensure harvest is sustainable.

3. Obtain information to inform sound management decisions, including boreal caribou ecology, key habitat and population indicators and cumulative effects.

4. Manage boreal caribou collectively, using adaptive management practices and the best available information.

5. Exchange information with the NWT people about boreal caribou in all regions.

6. Further to the national recovery strategy, ensure recovery obligations for protecting critical habitat and maintaining a self-sustaining population are meet or exceeded in the NWT

Collaboratively developed in 2017, it lays out specific actions for conservation and recovery under six objectives. Helps Management Authorities prioritize work and allocate resources. Managing fire disturbances in 1.3 in the document.
